Converge is a rock solid, no-frills band, and it is from these elements of their sound that we drew inspiration to create Kurt Ballou’s workhorse of an axe. The band is known for their intensely energized and physically fierce live shows, so we designed the guitar with durability in mind, with heavy maple for the body, jumbo gauge fret wire, and a C-shaped neck as thick as a tree trunk. These features, along with a deep cutaway that gives the highest frets easy access, make for a guitar that Kurt can play with force. The body is a customized Sheena style, with a whiskey and cola finish that presents an image that’s classic and tough. The guitar’s raw sound comes from a single EMG pickup, favoring purity of tone over complexity.
