Born out of the lengthy rock pedigree of New York City, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs combine
the twitchy, melodic playing of guitarist Nick Zinner and the loose and dirty
drumming of Brian Chase with smoky, pouting vocals, courtesy of lead singer
Karen O. The end result is a sound that is equal parts indie sound and
old-fashioned rock and roll hedonism. Despite the unconventional, bass-free
lineup, the band has risen to international superstardom with multiple world
tours and two Grammy-nominated albums, 2003’s Fever to Tell and 2006’s Show
Your Bones. Most recently, the band played a headlining spot at the 2007
Modern Sky Festival in Beijing, joining a short
list of big-name American acts to play China. A new full-length album is set to
be released late in 2008.
