Jeff Matz, formerly of the hardcore punk band Zeke, is now serving as bassist in the heavy-metal power trio High On Fire. Matz joined the band on tour in 2006 and first appeared on their 2007 release, Death Is This Communion.

High On Fire was founded by Matt Pike shortly after the breakup of his previous group, the seminal stoner-metal band Sleep. High On Fire released their full-length debut, The Art of Self-Defense, in 2000. The band then signed with Relapse Records, and over a course of heavy touring and the release of three more albums (2002’s Surrounded by Thieves, 2005’s Blessed Black Wings, and 2007's Death is this Communion) they acquired a huge fan base and much critical acclaim within the metal world.
