Punked out and poppy, The Neighborhoods rode the new wave through the 80’s, touring extensively with the likes of the Ramones. The band headlined bills with acts like Cheap Trick and David Bowie, and were eventually signed to Atlantic Records.
In their thirteen-odd years of playing, they’ve released four albums and influenced hundreds of fans, especially in Boston, since winning the city’s Rock ‘n Roll Rumble in 1979.
The ‘Hoods’ lead guitarist and singer songwriter David Minehan has kept busy since the group disbanded, subbing in for Aerosmith’s Brad Whitford and performing with the band in Japan. In 1994 he played in Paul Westerberg’s solo band. He has also won Producer of the Year two years in a row at the Boston Music Awards.
