Newton, MA (November 20, 2003) - First Act Inc, a leading manufacturer of quality musical instruments, announced today its successful fundraising efforts in conjunction with the Joe Torre Safe at Home Foundation, an organization dedicated to ensuring all children have the opportunity to grow up in a safe and abuse-free environment. To help raise money for the organization, First Act conceived, crafted, and donated a one-of-a-kind custom-made electric studio guitar that was auctioned off at the foundation's first annual benefit dinner.
The guitar was created in First Act's state-of-the-art Studio for Artists by the company's expert luthiers. "Every guitar we make in the Studio is exquisite," said Kelly Butler, First Act's master luthier. "We pay so much attention to detail that the finished piece is an extension of the musician. Designing and making the guitar for the Joe Torre Foundation was a lot of fun. We dipped it in a pure, glossy white finish and gave it sharp, navy Yankee pinstripes. It turned out beautiful and it sounds even better."

The Safe at Home foundation's formal launching dinner was held on November 12th at the Ritz-Carlton in New York City. The benefit festivities were hosted by actor-comedian Billy Crystal and featured music performed by Grammy award-winning artist, Norah Jones. The funds raised by the Safe at Home Foundation event will be used to develop and fund educational programs to end the cycle of domestic violence.
